Jon Cryer

In 2009, Jon Cryer won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his portrayal of Alan Harper, after being nominated for the role the three previous years before that. 

After making his directorial debut on an episode of Two and a Half Men during its fourth season, Cryer continues to direct episodes of the show.  Cryer's other television credits include starring roles in the series "The Trouble with Normal," "Getting Personal" "Partners" and, on the Network, "The Famous Teddy Z."  In addition, he had guest-starring roles in "The Practice," "Andy Richter Controls the Universe" and "Mr. Show," among others.  

Cryer has appeared in numerous features, including "No Small Affair," "Pretty in Pink," "Hot Shots!" and "Shorts," and had a cameo in the independent film, "Weather Girl."  He co-wrote, produced and starred in the independent films "The Pompatus of Love" and "Went to Coney Island on a Mission from God... Be Back by Five."

His theater credits include the Broadway productions of "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "Torch Song Trilogy."  He also starred in the Los Angeles premiere of "Boy's Life" and the London production of "900 Oneonta."  

A New York native and the son of actor David Cryer and writer and actress Gretchen Cryer, he did his first commercial at age 4 alongside his mother.  He studied acting at Stagedoor Manor, a summer acting camp, before his acceptance at London's prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.  Cryer lives in Los Angeles.  His birth date is April 16.
