Having made its Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival®, Precious (based on the novel Push by Sapphire) is being hailed as one of the most important films of the year. Hosted by Ben Mulroney, ETALK CELEBRATES PRECIOUS provides viewers with a glimpse into this dark yet inspiring film generating Oscar® buzz. This half-hour special features interviews with executive producers Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, director Lee Daniels, and cast members including Mariah Carey, Paula Patton, and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe. Oprah recounts her passionate plea to be a part of the project; Carey reveals how she transformed from sexy songstress to social worker; Patton discusses how impressed she was with Sidibe's breakout performance; and Sidibe reacts to the film’s widespread response. Plus, author Sapphire chats about bringing the written word onto the big screen with director Lee Daniels. Despite the overwhelming reaction, there were also concerns the film might not have received a wide release without major support. ETALK CELEBRATES PRECIOUS examines what it took for Precious to finally arrive.
