When it came time to ready the water works, this young Canadian actor was prepared with his own secret weapon.
“Preparing for this role was pretty hard, so I watched a lot of depressing things on my iPhone, because I have to cry many times in the episode! It was a pretty challenging role,” Dier tells CTV.ca.
Born in London, Ontario, this young actor guest stars in an upcoming episode of “V,” a remake of the classic sci-fi series from the 1980s.
“V” airs Tuesday nights at 10pm ET. Full episodes of “V” are available online at CTV.ca.
During his appearance on “V,” Dier had the opportunity to not only work alongside stars Elizabeth Mitchell and Morris Chestnut, but also guest director Jonathan Frakes, who is best known for his portrayal of Riker on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
“Everyone is so nice… Elizabeth Mitchell, I actually recognized her from the Santa Claus movies! And Morris Chestnut… I was a big fan of ‘Ladder 49,” says Dier.
“They really get you into it, when they’re not on camera, to help you out. Morris is like this hilarious dude, then in the show he’s a serious dude. They’re awesome people.”
Dier has recently appeared on the big screen in “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” with Steve Zahn and “Battle in Seattle” with Charlize Theron. The actor has previously studied at the prestigious Spotlight Academy in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
“I was always interested in acting since I was little; I used to pretend I was on camera all the time, running around my back yard. I got into plays in elementary school, continued in high school, and then when I moved out to B.C., I went to the Spotlight Academy in Nanaimo,” says Dier.
“You really get to know yourself, and dig into yourself emotionally, which you wouldn’t do if you didn’t get into training. You really explore your emotions. With acting it’s important to trust yourself, you have to dig into your emotions, and not judge yourself.”
“V” also stars Lourdes Benedicto, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort, Morena Baccarin, and Scott Wolf.
