Her distinctive close-cropped ‘do sets a certain tone for a visitor.
Morena Baccarin stars as the leader of the alien visitors on the remake of “V.” The series airs Tuesday nights on /A\ and full episodes are available online at CTV.ca.
The actress, who previously had long brown locks during her previous stint in “Firefly,” remembers her short hair being a source of discussion once she landed the role as Anna.
“I've had this haircut for probably three, three and a half years now. And it was a little bit of a discussion when we first started shooting the pilot, whether we should keep it like this or do something different,” says Baccarin.
“And there was kind of arguments for both, but I'm glad we stuck with this because I think it's a very sort of different thing for Anna. It's appropriate.”
Baccarin originally hails from Rio de Janeiro, and trained at the prestigious Julliard School in New York.
The actress says one of her more difficult challenges with her role as Anna on “V,” is balancing her character’s alien side with her public “human” persona.
“It's very layered, and it's sort of been actually months and months of layering one thing after the next. But in the simplest form, I just try not to be an alien, actually, try to be a human as possible, keeping in mind that she is different, that she's not human, that she's not from this planet, and try to have as many aspects of humanity as possible in order for her to be attractive to human beings,” says Baccarin.
“She's sort of – I imagine Anna to be what everybody would want a politician to be that actually is going to get things done and taken care of and do the things that they want to have taken care of in their world. So I sort of try to embody all those things.”
“V” also stars Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Lourdes Benedicto, Logan Huffman, Laura Vandervoort and Scott Wolf.
