TORONTO -- It's turning out to be a great couple of weeks for British Columbia writer Annabel Lyon.

Her debut novel, "The Golden Mean," has already made the short list for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize and for the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

This morning, it was also listed as a contender for the Governor General's Literary Prize.

"The Golden Mean" is about the Greek philosopher Aristotle and his relationship with Alexander the Great.

Lyon is in good company. Accompanying her on the Governor General's fiction short list are: Alice Munro, Michael Crummey, Kate Pullinger and Deborah Willis.

The winner, to be announced November 17 in Montreal, will receive $25,000. Short lists were also announced this morning for non-fiction, poetry, drama and children's literature.
