“Speechless, thankful and very emotional,” were the words Teya Wild used to describe how she felt when first hearing she made SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s Top 22.

Hailing from North Vancouver, Teya started dancing at age nine, practicing tap and jazz. “From there, I knew this is what I wanted to do for a long time, so I began taking it all,” said Teya, and that she did. Her formal training began at the Seymour Dance School and Project Soul Productions Company in Vancouver, where she covered various dance genres including jazz, locking/popping, new school, old school, ballet, contemporary, tap, break dancing, musical theatre, house, vogue and stepping.

Throughout her professional career, Teya has worked with notable choreographers including Kelly Konno in Cinderella Story 2, Aakomon Jones in Center Stage 2, RJ Durell in Spectacular and Napoleon and Tabitha D'umo in Cobu 3D.

Having battled other dancers in previous competitions such as Surrey Festival, and Peak Invitational in Vancouver, Teya says she’s come this far because of her ability to pick up choreography and perform under pressure without holding back.

When not ripping up the dance floor, Teya spends her free time singing, hiking, working out and sleeping. With a “wild” sense of style and outgoing personality, viewers can expect to get to know Teya within her first performance on the stage. “I am not known to be camera shy,” says Teya.

When asked what the biggest accomplishment of Teya’s life has been so far, she said “this moment right now, being able to perform for all of Canada.”
