Montreal native JP Dubé credits his hard work, concentration and passion for dance for boosting him into SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s Top 22. “After wanting it for so long and completely dedicating myself to reach this goal, it felt totally surreal and it took me awhile to really realize that I had made it,” said JP.

Unlike other competitors this season, JP did not start dancing until his early teens; however, he says “it was an instant love!” Since then, he has participated in many workshops and trained at various studios in Montreal, practicing different styles of dance including hip-hop at Studio A, ballet with Sonia Belazovjeh, and ballroom with Season 1 alumni Danny Arbour.

As an aspiring hip-hop master, JP is looking forward to seeing SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA judge Luther Brown on a regular basis, saying, “he has so much knowledge on hip-hop, but he doesn’t only teach choreography, he spreads his knowledge as well.”

Claiming his fashion style is a mix between urban and hipster, this hip-hop dancer says he most relates to Season 1 winner Nico Archambault. “I admire how he inspires young people by sending positive messages to today’s youth through his dancing abilities,” said JP. “He also showed Canada that boys can dance too!”

JP feels that Canadian dancers are one of a kind because, as he says, “we work hard for everything that is given to us!” It is this same hard work that has brought him to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s stage. “Viewers can expect to be entertained and that I will fully commit to the dances and strive to achieve perfection,” said JP.
