Hailing from Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, François Pruneau says his passion for dance shines through whenever he performs. “Every time I’m on the dance floor or on stage, I give everything I have,” said François. “I dance with all my heart and soul, and I think the judges can see that.” Even so, he still had to pinch himself from time to time after learning he would be competing in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s Top 22.

Following the moves of his older sister, who is his biggest supporter, François started ballroom dancing at the age of five. As a youngster who loved getting attention and was always moving, François says that it was only natural for him to pursue dance.

François did most of his formal training at his hometown dance school, La Picarlène with ballroom dance as his main focus. From there, François participated in several competitions in Quebec and has competed in major cities around the world including New York City and Blackpool, England.

Inspired by ballroom champions around the world, François believes that to become the winner of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA, he must be himself and make each dance a part of who he is. “People want to see the real thing and be entertained,” said François.

When performing, viewers can expect to see not only a performer and a showman, but also an artist who shares his limitless passion with them. François says, “I want viewers to see an accomplished artist on stage and I also want them to know all the work and personal investment it represents – dance for me is more than a sport, it’s a way of life.”
