Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Boneless Gulston has never felt more proud in his life than when he heard he had cracked SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s Top 22. “Katy Perry could have been standing right next to me and I wouldn’t have noticed her! It was my time to shine,” said Boneless.
This self-taught freestyler began dancing as a baby to the beat of his parent’s steal drums. Attending many rehearsals and shows with his mother, Boneless began moving with the music and eventually his movements turned into dance steps. Since auditioning for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Season 1, Boneless has taken drop-in choreography classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary and ballroom.
Working with SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA judge Luther Brown in a theatre dance play titled On My Way Home, was an experience that Boneless will never forget. “That’s when I started to meet a lot of other dancers in the industry and started to understand the game,” said Boneless.
When asked if he could dance or perform with one person, Boneless chose Ellen DeGeneres or Gene Kelly. “Ellen’s awesome! And Gene’s career was almost unreal in my eyes, but that’s what happens when you put in hard work. That was his gift,” said Boneless.
Describing his fashion style as a mix between P.Diddy, Kanye West and Drake, Boneless’s hobbies are watching cartoons, reading, going on Facebook and playing sports.
Boneless believes there are four major elements he needs to follow to become the winner of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA. “Be myself, stay focused, have fun and enjoy every second,” said Boneless.
