After being overwhelmed with emotion when hearing she made SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s Season 4 Top 22, Carlena Britch says she was faced with the challenge of realizing her own talent and capabilities. “The challenge of recognizing your own greatness is one that can take an entire lifetime for many, or mere moments for others,” said Carlena.

This aspiring hip-hop guru was introduced to dancing when she was 10 years old during her school’s two week dance program. “It immediately took my focus away from a troubled childhood and onto a more positive artistic outlet,” said Carlena. “I fell in love, and the rest is history.”

Carlena began her dance career in high school, followed by training at the semi-professional hip-hop company SOULdiers in Vancouver for three years, where she received intensive training not only in hip-hop dancing, but also the culture itself. Her training has also branched out to the Millennium Dance Complex, Debbie Reynolds studio in Los Angeles, Soulplex in Germany, Rock Da House in Montreal, The Vibe Dance Centre in Norway, the Connection Dance Centre in Seattle and the OIP Dance Studio in Toronto.

Through her various appearances, including the upcoming Nickelodeon film Rags, the Disney film Camp Rock 2: Final Jam, and Michael Buble’s “Just Haven’t Met You Yet” music video, Carlena says she’s “been deeply inspired by numerous dancers and choreographers, but has ultimately been shaped by my strength, determination and love for dancing.”

This funky and tough-skinned Vancouverite who enjoys nail art, hairstyling and cooking, is ready to give 100% of herself, and dance her way to the top. “My journey to this point in my life is an accomplishment. Making Top 22, however, is a dream come true.”
