Adam LoPapa says making SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA’s Top 22 was a personal reward for him. He adds “it made me feel like my hard work and dedication really paid off. I was in complete shock and excited – feeling so thankful that the judges gave me this indescribable opportunity,” said Adam.

Inspired by his cousin to start dancing at the age of six, Adam received his formal training under Danny and Lisa Poland, the directors of Performing Dance Arts in Woodbridge. “Danny Poland has most definitely shaped my dance career thus far. Being a male dancer and having the influence of a well trained male dancer has made me a strong and versatile performer,” said Adam.

Aside from Adam’s main dance style, jazz, he is also well versed in hip-hop, tap, contemporary, ballet, musical theatre and adagio partnering. “I’m a very strong, passionate dancer, and no matter what genre, I will perform as expected by the choreographer and each viewer,” said Adam.

Growing up in Woodbridge, Ontario, Adam is proud of his background and hometown. “Being from Woodbridge, the dominant heritage is Italian, which is half of my background,” said Adam. “Seeing people of my heritage is what makes Woodbridge my home.”

When asked what SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA alumni Adam most relates to, he says Canada’s first Favourite Dancer, Nico Archambault. “When you watch him dance you can tell right away that he loves what he’s doing, and I like to think that people will get that from watching me perform on the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA stage,” said Adam.

This multi-faceted dancer is ready to embrace the rare opportunity that he’s been given. “The exposure that the show allows for dancers is remarkable because before the show, dancers weren’t as recognized as they are today,” said Adam.
