As the series grinds down to it’s final episodes, CTV.ca confirms who are the absolute most vile individuals to visit the island.

10. Roger Linus

Perhaps not the most nefarious character on “Lost,” Roger earns the distinction of villain for blaming his son Ben for his wife’s death. He also earns bad-dude points for being the one who shot (and ultimately killed) Sayid before “The Incident.” It’s fitting that the last nickname he was given was “Skeletor,” when Sawyer drank stale Dharma beers from Roger’s work van, alongside Roger’s rotted corpse.

9. Oldham

Generally, Dharma was a peaceful group even if they had guns and jails and whatnot. And Oldham was Dharma’s throwback to a version of a season one era Sayid; a ruthless interrogator who took his subjects deep into the jungle for a brutally aggressive round of questioning. Sawyer even described Oldham as a “psychopath.” Of course, Oldham lived in a teepee and he began his drug-induced interrogations by giving the subject a sugar cube laced with LSD, which to some, could be an interesting way to spend an afternoon.

8. Shannon Rutherford

You may not remember Boone’s sister very well, considering she mercifully died in season two -- or if you’re like myself had to close your eyes and plug your ears when she was onscreen and block her from your consciousness as much as possible. As the spoiled brat she couldn’t make it through a conversation without smirking or looking like she had just swallowed a Dharma fly – moaning and complaining about the stupidest things, and for some reason charmed Sayid. More stupid things that I hate about Shannon: When the plane first crashed, she refused a candy bar because she was on a diet, complained when one of the crash victims was dying too loudly, then when her own brother died, didn’t say anything at his funeral. What a jerk.

7. Mikhail

There was never any “grey area” character moments when it came to Mikhail; you knew when you saw his eye-patch and unshaven face that he was pure evil. His malevolent quality was enhanced by his inability to die, despite being pushed through the sonic fence and shot in the chest with a spear. He killed his own partner, Miss Klugh, when they were captured by Kate and Sayid, and eventually exploded the Looking Glass station with a grenade, killing Charlie in the process.

6. Ethan Rom

Ethan first appeared alongside the crash survivors in season one, but he was really an Other hoping to get his hands on Claire’s baby. Though he claimed he was from Ontario, Ethan only possessed the external appearance of kindness, and showed his true colours when he hung Charlie from a tree. Ethan also had a creepy gaze and mastered the use of a slingshot, which he used against Jin. Charlie got his ultimate revenge against Ethan when he shot him six times in the chest.

5. Anthony Cooper

There’s evil, then there’s “evil bastards,” which is the most fitting description for Locke’s father, Anthony Cooper. First of all, he was the con man who stole from Mary Ford, Sawyer’s mother, which led her husband to kill her, and himself, orphaning young James Ford. Anthony Cooper also tricked Locke into donating a kidney to him, and years later, pushed Locke out of a window, paralyzing him. After Anthony Cooper was brought to the island, he continued to mock Locke, and when confronted with Sawyer in the Black Rock, mocked him too. Of course, Sawyer choked Anthony Cooper to death with a chain, Princess-Leia-on-Jabba-the-Hutt-in-The-Return-of-the-Jedi style.

4. Keamy

Actor Kevin Durand has made a name for himself playing really skuzzy villains, and Keamy was no exception. As you may know, there are no such things as nice mercenaries. Of his heinous acts, shooting Alex point blank remains among the lowest of the low. Keamy also tried shooting Michael but his gun failed (twice), and later forced Frank to fly him back to the island by killing two other freighter crew members (one of which was the captain). Keamy’s final on-island act was wearing a device on his arm, that following his death at the hands of Ben, caused the denotation of a massive explosion back on the ship, which killed everyone on board except for Jin. In the flash-sideways, Keamy was a slick suit-wearing gangster, frying up eggs and making racist remarks to his henchmen, showing that no matter what universe he was in, he was still bad to the bone.

3. James “Sawyer” Ford

There are lots of things that keep Sawyer from being a villain: for example, we now know he’s a softy that loves reading books and smelling flowers. But when we first met him, he was the scoundrel who hoarded all the medical supplies, possibly in exchange for sex, and had dispensed disparaging nicknames for all the crash survivors. Before the crash, he was a relentless con man who murdered an innocent man in cold blood. By hooking up with Kate in the Hydra Island bear cages, he effectively ruined any chances at Kate and Jack living happily ever after -- perhaps the greatest sin of all (if you’re a Jater that is). Son of a bitch.

2. Flock/Smokey/Man in Black

I’m still not entirely convinced that Smokey aka the “Man in Black” or now “Flocke” is a wicked individual, but I would be a fool in the scope of things of “Lost” to not rank him/it as one of the most evil characters on the show. He is responsible for Jacob’s death (by manipulating Ben into stabbing him), more or less responsible for Locke’s death (appearing as Christian Shepherd and telling him he has to leave the island and die), thrashing multiple people on the island as a smoke monster (including the poor pilot of Oceanic 815), ripping off Montand’s arm, slamming Mr. Eko around in the form of a violent crucifix, and wiping out the remaining “Others” in the temple. And he planted the bomb on the submarine, which lead to the most disappointing moment on “Lost,” the death of Frank Lapidus.

1. Benjamin Linus

Even if the “Man in Black” turns out to be the devil, or some other form of evil incarnate, he’ll still be no match for Ben, the ultimate villain of “Lost.” My theory is that young Ben turned into an “Evil Zombie” after he was shot by Sayid in the 70’s and was possibly drowned/resurrected in the healing waters of the temple. At that point he became “different,” or, nefariously wretched and Stone-Cold-Steve-Austin evil. He was the one who stabbed Jacob to death -- and you don’t get much more evil than being the guy who stabs the tapestry weaving island god. Of course, Ben was more evil than that: On his birthday, he became a mass murderer, starting with his dad and killing off the ENTIRE Dharma initiative with a bunch of deadly gas. And he left his father’s body to rot in a Dharma van, instead of burying him alongside the rest of the dead Dharma folks in a mass grave. Furthermore, despite knowing that killing Keamy would blow up the freighter would kill everyone on board, he did it anyways. He lied all the time (including his first grand scheme, pretending to be Henry Gale), murdered a bunch of bunny rabbits, and after preventing Locke’s suicide, strangled him with an extension cable. And he doesn’t like Stephen King books. Who doesn’t like Stephen King novels? Only the most evil character on “Lost” of all time.
