Though she died at the beginning of the final season, Mitchell will return one more time to “Lost.”
Mitchell played Juliet Burke, the fertility doctor once recruited to the island by the Others, only to travel back to the 1970’s and fall in love with Sawyer (Josh Holloway), before falling down a well and detonating a nuclear device.
But Juliet didn’t die from the bomb going off: Like the other Losties trapped in the past, she too travelled back to 2007. Sawyer tried to rescue her from the metal debris that fell on top of her, but he was too late. Just before she died, she cryptically said to “I have to tell you something, it’s very important.”
So while the series is winding down into its final episodes, Mitchell remains bittersweet about the wrap of the series.
“I am both happy and sad that it's coming to an end. Happy because I'm an avid reader, and I really do love when my books come to an end. I like to know what they are. And then I like to go back and reread them and kind of be like, "Ooh," get right in it,” Mitchell tells CTV.ca.
“So I'm excited to know what the answer is or answers, plural, are. And yes, I have gone kind of back and forth and have been able to see everybody. And a little sad because it's a whole entire group of people that I love, and it will be sad to see them kind of go their separate ways. But I remain close to the people I was close to, and that's nice.”
The two-and-a-half hour season finale airs Sunday, May 23 on CTV. Check your local listings for details.
Elizabeth Mitchell also stars in the remake of the sci-fi series “V.”
