McBride recently appeared on “Pushing Daisies” as Emerson Cod, and previously starred on “Boston Public” for four seasons.

Looking back at the first season of “Human Target,” McBride tells CTV.ca he is pleased with how the series turned out, and being able to try his hand at action.

“We got to do all the things we set out to do in terms of story, in terms of character.  The character development was really great, and, you know, I do enjoy this role.  I get a chance to do some things that I haven't done in my career a lot of, which is action, and get a chance to do some of that and still get a chance to be funny without going outside of the tone of the show.  So all those things have been what I've enjoyed the most about it,” says McBride.

“I've always wanted to do it.  I just never had the opportunity to do it.  Nothing ever came along where it was like that.  And the action that I've had to do has been great.  I haven't had to use a double to do it.  You know, it's good because it always is good to try to sort of expand, you know, the skill-set that you have in this business.  This is a business where people will only let you do what they think you can do.  So anytime you get a chance to expand that is great.  This is an opportunity for me to work with firearms, do some physical stuff.  And it's just been fun, you know.”

“Human Target” is based upon the DC comics title of the same name. The series also stars Jackie Earle Haley as computer hacker Guerrero.

According to McBride, he credits the show’s success partially to the chemistry the actors enjoy onscreen.

“I think that the fact that we do all get along well is good, but I think that hopefully it's because we're decent actors.  It is what our job is. Our job is to make you believe that, and hopefully that is what we do well. I think that it's a bonus when you work with people that you like as opposed to working with somebody who is a complete pain in the ass,” says McBride.

“Then you really have to turn on the acting every time.  So I guess in a way it does make it a little bit more palatable and easier to do, and you find more of a naturalness in what you're doing instead of it just being a job.”
