Laura Soltis

Since moving to Vancouver, Laura Soltis has established herself as one of the city’s premier actors. She has had recurring guest star roles on such television series as THE GUARD, BLACK SASH and GODIVA. Additional credits include guest-starring roles on MASTERS OF SCIENCE FICTION, THE COLLECTOR, THE CHRIS ISAAK SHOW and COLD SQUAD. Soltis has also starred in numerous television movies including The Secret Lives of Second Wives, Home By Christmas, Double Cross, and The Party Never Stops: Diary of a Binge Drinker. Her feature film credits include Snitch and Lionsgate Film Man About Town starring Ben Affleck.

A Chicago-native, Soltis comes from a performing family. Her mother, a choreographer, founded her own ballet company while her grandfather was in the circus. Soltis’ career in the spotlight launched when she captured the lead dance role of Eliza in The King and I. At 19, she joined the cast of Evita at the Shubert Theatre and then traveled nationally with the show for two years.

Her subsequent theatrical career took her to Los Angeles where she landed such roles as Lola in Damn Yankees, Sheila in A Chorus Line, and Dorothy in Nite Club Confidential. Laura decided to make Vancouver her home while on tour with Ragtime.

Joyce Haddison

Joyce is a smart and successful businesswoman who started Haddison House Publishing in the 1980s. She’s always had a savvy eye toward spotting a market trend and has been able to generate lucrative sales for her company. She made a fat whack of dough off the “diet and aerobics” movement of the late ‘80s. The “self-help-for-the-soul” movement of the ‘90s brought her in loads of cash, but for some reason, Joyce hadn’t been able to target the new millennium. As a result, Haddison House isn’t raking it in like it used to. Millie’s books are Haddison’s bread and butter and Joyce isn’t about to let her get away, no matter how much grief her “hiccups” cause.
Taylor Rymes

Millie’s books are successful enough that she doesn’t actually need a literary agent, so it doesn’t matter that Taylor is inept at the job. What he lacks in skills, he makes up for in swagger.

Taylor is a handsome fella whose first instinct is to smile his way out of, or into anything. When that doesn’t work, he engages Plan B; sweat and panic. Taylor inherited Millie as a client when her previous agent passed away about a year ago. Millie likes Taylor well enough and he likes her too. As a result, he wants to prove he’s earning his keep, making him a bit of a keener.
