Colbert: 'Canada's being very un-Canadian -- this time, they want to win'
LOS ANGELES -- With his trip north of the border fast approaching, Stephen Colbert was still poking fun at Canada after winning his first Grammy Award on Sunday.
Backstage at the show, Colbert was asked why he'd given Canadians such a rough ride on his comedy show, "The Colbert Report," where he's labelled Canadians "syrup suckers" and "ice-holes."
"Because Canada's being very un-Canadian," he responded.
"This time they want to win. That's very unpolite."
Colbert announced on his TV show in December that he would accept an invitation from the City of Richmond to attend the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, but only as a member of the U.S. Olympic team.
Colbert had picked up on complaints that non-Canadian athletes haven't had full access to Richmond athletic facilities.
He won his first Grammy for the soundtrack to his holiday special, "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All."
