Spoiler alert! There’s a chilling similarity in themes when it comes to the much-anticipated returns of “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: New York”: both series are going to feature their lead characters coming face-to-face with their deceased wives.

On “CSI: Miami,” TVGuide.com scored a massive scoop when they discovered that Alana De La Garza is going to be back as Marisol, the dead wife of Horatio Caine (David Caruso) in the Season 10 premiere.

In the season four finale of the series, Marisol was shot dead by a sniper.

Hortaio himself was shot in the season nine finale earlier this year, and speculation suggests that he will see Marisol in a dream, and will be able to properly mourn her death for the first time.

This bit of “CSI: Miami” news is followed by a shocking revelation for “CSI: New York.” The series, which many thought was last season with Mac wrapping up the last of his unsolved cases, is kicking off its new batch of episodes by introducing a new character: Mac Taylor’s dead wife.

In “CSI: NY” lore, Mac (Gary Sinise) lost his wife in the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

The Season 8 premiere is also going to be honouring the tenth anniversary of the tragedy.

Executive producer Pam Veasey told TVGuide.com that the premiere is going to take the characters “back to that day,” and will show the romantic bond that Mac and his wife Claire shared.

Claire is going to be played by “General Hospital” star Jaime Ray Newman, who has also played Vanessa Hemmings on “Drop Dead Diva,” and made guest starring appearances on “CSI,” “Criminal Minds” and “Supernatural.”

The strawberry-blonde is also known in the Los Angeles area for performing with her band, “School Boy Crush.”

Now that Mac’s wife is finally going to be seen in the flesh on the series, it may be possible that the appearance could spurn the character into moving on, and moving into new romantic interests… maybe even Sela Ward’s Jo Danville.
