Lisa Ramos first plucked from 'America's Next Top Model'
Given a second chance after not making the finals, in the blink of an eye Lisa Ramos was out again in the premiere of the show's 13th cycle.
Created by world-renowned supermodel Tyra Banks, who executive produces the series with Ken Mok, "America's Next Top Model" chronicles the transformation of everyday young women into potentially fierce supermodels.
In what's being called "Le Cycle 13," Banks has chosen a group of girls who are 5Œ7 and under, and is giving them a chance at superstardom.
CTV.ca had a chance to talk with the cycle's first eliminated model, Lisa Ramos, a 19-year-old from Queens, NY, and get her thoughts about her time on the show. Ramos was not originally picked, but was substituted in after Amber had to bow out of the competition.
So what was going through your mind when you heard that you were eliminated?
I was like, "Oh no, not again!"
What was your favourite experience being on the show?
Living in the house and getting the makeovers. The house was huge, it was beautiful with the pool and the hot tub... it was a fantasy. There was candy, and we would eat it all and they would replenish it. They had jawbreakers, lollipops, everything.
Do you wish you had more of a makeover, like some of the other girls?
I was actually pretty happy with my makeover, that they didn't have to do much.
Do you think you would have stuck out more if your look was more dramatic?
It might have, but Tyra chooses what the makeovers are going to be, so maybe not. I don't know.
How about your photo, with the clown costume? Was that unfair?
That was very hard to work with, and the jacket was very heavy, I'm not making excuses, but it wasn't easy with that jacket. I tried. I don't think it was unfair, they just chose that baby picture, but it was definitely a challenge.
Are you okay with being known as the girl with the threaded eyebrows on ANTM?
That doesn't bother me at all; it's cool that people notice that. It's the best thing you can do for your eyebrows, waxing is bad, bad, bad.
In Canada, Jay Manuel hosts "Canada's Next Top Model." What was your impression of him while on the show?
He looks like a huge Ken doll. He's so put together; he's perfect, like a doll. During my photo shoot he kept having me experiment with the poses and giving lots of feedback.
How about Tyra?
She's the same; she's a huge Barbie doll, and in person looks exactly like she looks on TV.
Are you going to keep modeling in the future?
Absolutely, I was trying to model before this, and I'll keep doing it. I'm also a student and majoring in health science.
