Despite being told by Tyra Banks her motion editorial was “stunning,” Jane failed to make it to the finals of “America’s Next Top Model.”

Tyra also told the 19-year-old history student from Baltimore, Md., she got chills after working with her in the challenge. But it wasn’t enough to keep Jane in the competition and she was eliminated, alongside fellow contestant Kayla.

Jane says she wasn’t surprised.

“I knew at that point, just with the fact that two girls were going home that I really had to do something special to get in the final and it was definitely great to go out on a high note and get such positive feedback from Tyra but it didn’t really seem like all the other judges were quite as convinced,” Jane tells CTV.ca.

The motion editorial challenge was shot in Milan and featured the girls bringing their poses to life with movement and emotion as they modeled in couture dresses and whispered their own names. The editorial marked Tyra’s directorial debut and Jane says working with her was “amazing.”

“It was the first time I really got to talk to her and get to know her at all and I really enjoyed just learning from her. She has tons of great advice and you could definitely tell she was a model herself.”

But Jane admits she is still a little confused as to what the theme of the video, dubbed “Disturbato,” was.

“It was a lot of fun to shoot (but) I’m going to hold out my opinion on it.”

Throughout the competition the judges repeatedly told Jane she lacked personality – something she says was definitely hard to hear.

“I really did not expect to go into the competition being criticized about anything other than my modeling. At the time it seemed like they were sort of attacking me as a person,” says Jane.

“It was incredibly frustrating because the only interaction I had with the judges was pretty much at panel so I thought it was unfair of them to make such definitive remarks.”

Jane adds she’s just glad Tyra finally got to know her by the end of the competition. She’s also grateful for getting the chance to travel to Italy with the rest of the girls.

“I really enjoyed Venice and Verona but Milan might have been ruined for me a little bit by the go-see challenge.”

During the challenge, the girls were instructed to make their way to four casting agents in four hours but aside from Chelsey, Jane and the other girls only made it to one as a result of getting lost.

“They gave us a map like you’d get on Mapquest with four street names and I didn’t come up with the idea of buying a real map until Chris and I were headed back to IMG (Models). It was very confusing and frustrating.”

The one go-see they did make was the one none of them wanted to miss – Versace.

“Inside it was amazing – it was all white (with) these beautiful models just hanging out on chairs and just looking at you. It was very intimidating. It was great having the opportunity to experience that but I just wish I would’ve had a better idea of how to do a runway walk before I walked for them.”

Since being eliminated from ‘ANTM,’ Jane has returned to her studies at Princeton and plans to take some time off in January to model – as long as she can get signed with an agency.

“I certainly want to pursue modeling, that’s my plan right now, but I don’t want to say I’m definitely doing it.”
