Alexandria Everett was eliminated from “America’s Next Top Model” because she failed to bring more than modeling to her mock music video.

The irony isn’t lost on the 22-year-old from Newport Beach, Calif., who was told just two weeks earlier she looked too much like a “reality star” during a photo shoot with Coco Rocha.

It was followed by a challenge where she and the other “All-Stars” had to emulate reality TV contestants for a photo shoot.

“I found it a little contradicting… How do we go from trying to be a model but then being too much like a reality TV star and then having to pose like a reality TV star on the back of a motorcycle driving around Hollywood?” Alexandria tells CTV.ca over the phone.

On the most recent episode of Cycle 17, the “All-Stars” had to write and record a song, while incorporating the phrase “Pot Ledom” (Top Model backwards), and make an accompanying music video.

The shoot was directed by guest star and rapper Game, who told Alexandria her movements were robotic and didn’t match the lyrics, while the other judges thought she needed to prove she was more than a model.

“I don’t think it’s about ‘America’s Next Top Model All-Star Pop Singer,’” says Alexandria.

Alexandria adds that while they were allowed to write the lyrics for their song, the creative for the video was chosen for them and it didn’t represent who she was.

“I feel like I did what I could do with the situation and I made it as best as possible but at the end of the day when I was standing in the music video I kind of felt like this wasn’t my image of my brand and I felt like I was kind of just making a video for ‘America’s Next Top Model Pot Ledom,’ not a song for Alexandria.”

Even so, Alexandria, who placed fourth on Cycle 16 of ‘ANTM,’ says she is still happy she returned to the show for the “All-Stars.”

“I’m not even mad at the inconsistencies because it only makes us stronger. I’m definitely not angry at it or upset about it in any way… it is kind of frustrating (to be eliminated for that) but guess what? It happened when it was supposed to happen.”

With Cycle 17 taping so soon after she was eliminated from Cycle 16, Alexandria says she didn’t have much time to see what the real world of modeling had to offer her, but now that her time with the show has officially ended, she is excited to get out there and see what happens.

She has already walked for L.A. Fashion Week and is planning on taking acting lessons and re-building her portfolio – with pictures of her sporting her new shorter haircut.

“I (feel like) I’m going back to that first year of modeling and reliving it. It’s kind of awesome.”
